newspaper art nail

You might think that getting a newspaper print on your nails could be very messy... but it is quite easy. Take my word for it, I've tried it! This is a very cool look if you love vintage... which I love. We decided to start our new blog off with this DIY post, as we had a few friends from Twitter who requested for it!

You will need:
  • A base color nail polish
  • Clear top coat nail polish
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Tweezer (optional)
  • Bowl
  • Another pair of hands (optional)
Steps:
  • Paint your nails with your choice of base color. (tip: It is a good idea to do 2 layers or even 3 if needed. Just to make sure the newspaper print will show up clearly)
  • Let your nails dry, be patient.
  • Soak the little pieces of newspaper in the bowl with rubbing alcohol. (I actually used cooking alcohol here because I couldn't find rubbing alcohol at home.)
  • If you have a tweezer, you could use them to take the newspaper out of the bowl and carefully place it on top of your dried nails.
  • Press the newspaper against your nails for 15-20 seconds. Be sure to put a bit of pressure so the ink sets.
  • Gentle remove the newspaper, and voila, your nails have a new pattern... but don't move!! Let this dry...
  • Finish it off with a top coat!
I tried this technique after discovering it on: Mrs.Chong - A petite mrs' thrift + style blog.

Please take a moment to check out her blog. The author is a friend of ours and is also the designer of our blog, thanks D!

This was surely a spontaneous post. Doing things spontaneously always feels a little more fun, oui? I hope this was helpful, please check back for more updates!

sincerely,
Priscilla
